* 6 women (3 children) were admitted to WAIMON refuge.
* 3 women (2 children) were offered WAIMON refuge but did not accept.
* 6 women (10 children) were found refuge elsewhere by WAIMON.
* 3 women (4 children) changed their mind but received outreach.
* 3 women (8 children) were declined refuge but offered other support.
* 8 women (16 children) changed their mind about refuge and did not want support.
Of these 81 women, 32 women (35 children) were from other Gwent authorities. Of these:
* 14 women (11 children) were from Blaenau Gwent (BG).
* 6 BG women (7 children) were admitted to WAIMON refuge.
* 2 BG women (2 children) were found refuge elsewhere by WAIMON.

* 6 women (9 children) were from Newport.
* 3 Newport women (5 children) were admitted to WAIMON refuge.
* 3 women (5 children) were from Caerphilly.
* 3 Caerphilly women (5 children) were admitted to WAIMON refuge.
Of these 81 women, 10 women (19 children) were from other authorities in Wales. Of these 6 women (14 children) were admitted to WAIMON refuge.
Of these 81 women, 10 women (16 children) were from authorities in England. Of these 7 women (6 children) were admitted to WAIMON refuge.
There have been a total of 40 women in the WAIMON refuge during this period as 4 women and 2 children were already resident in refuge at the start of the 2008/2009 year and 36 women were taken into refuge during the year along with 30 of their children.
The low number of children in refuge is due in part to referrals from an increased number of young women still in their teens and several older women whose children had left home.
Of these 40 women, only 8 remained in the county after leaving refuge (6 were from Monmouthshire originally). |
